Firstly, you need to know your targets: how they will react to the loss of their loved ones, what they will do to get them back, and who they will call to help them. Secondly you mustn't be greedy. Ask for too much money and the target can't pay, and if the target can't (or won't) pay, then that leads to all sort of other problems. But thirdly, and this is of course in retrospect, it's probably best not to take on Will Jennings as your victim . . .
