The first edition of A Day in the Bush was written for people seeking to undertake self-guided walks in the bushland and coastal areas of the Sydney region, and to do so confidently, competently and safely. This revised edition of A Day in the Bush serves these same objectives but also addresses the needs of parents and grandparents who wish to make bushwalking a family affair.
Although it is broader in focus and has substantially revised content, the new A Day in the Bush retains all of the features that distinguished the original. These include succinct but detailed track notes presented in an easy to follow format; guidelines to aid walk selection for children and adults of different walking capabilities; simple and clear maps designed for trouble-free navigation; background information about the landforms, vegetation and fauna of the Sydney region; cross-references to this information throughout the track notes, and regular posting of walk updates on the book’s website.
The new edition will be supported by an expanded and interactive website from which readers can obtain resources, such as illustrated flora and fauna guides for use on the walks, as well as track note updates and other forms of supplementary information.
