The nine gardens of Aberglasney were first mentioned by a fifteenth-century bard but for much of this century they were left to decay and all but disappeared under a shroud of green. Visitors forcing their way through this jungle noticed the remarkable layout and at last an ambitious restoration plan was put in hand. What those early visitors had seen were the raised, arcaded terraced walkways of the ancient garden.
