Liverpool radio DJ Johnny Ace has finally set up his own detective agency, but his first two cases are far from straightforward. Mrs Skidmore is convinced that her husband, whose car skidded out of control one night, was murdered - despite an official verdict of accidental death. And Owen Jenna needs Johnny's help to prove to the police that he hasn't killed his missing wife - although all the evidence suggests he did it.
So when Johnny buys an old cassette player at auction and discovers with it a tape containing unreleased songs performed by a young John Lennon, he's glad of the very welcome distraction - not to mention the fact that he could have stumbled on a potential goldmine. But his excitement soon turns to caution when he finds out that the previous owner's house has been violently ransacked.
It soon becomes clear that someone out there will stop at nothing to get their hands on the tape- even murder. And it's only a matter of time before they find the man they want . . .
