The first book in a unique and intriguing mystery series with a wonderful antique store book and a colourful cast of characters, set in picturesque Carmel, California.
Molly Doyle, a striking, sarcastic, middle-aged antique dealer, is having a bad year. Her husband has left her for another woman and their high-end New York shop has been closed down after a scandal involving the sale of fake heirlooms. Molly heads out west to Carmel, California to lick her wounds and take over the less than stellar shop of an old family friend.
Max's shop is full of cheap "merch" and Molly is depressed to find herself back in the world of garage sales and estate auctions where being the first on the scene is the key to picking up hot items. On one such morning Molly arrives at a sale at the crack of dawn, just in time to have the murdered proprietress fall into her arms.
And off she goes on a murderous adventure, getting caught up in the excitement of trying to solve the crime. With the help of a colourful cast of characters like Randall, the unmarried detective; Daria, the gorgeous restaurateur neighbour; and Bitsy Morgan, fellow dealer and guardian angel, Molly discovers that the move to Carmel may not be so bad after all - after she unmasks a murderer.
Elaine Flinn was an antiques dealer in the San Francisco Bay area for many years. 'Dealing In Murder' is her first novel. Trading treasures for her love of mystery, she lives on the Monterey Peninsula and is at work on the next in the series.
