Robert Lawrence Smith's family have been practising Quakers for over three hundred years. It is his conviction that the tenets of Quakerism - silence, worship, truth, simplicity, conscience, nonviolence, service, family - are as relevant today, in our complex, mateialistic, often unjust world, as they ever were.
We can't withdraw from the process of living while we make up our minds how to live. This book offers everybody - Quakers and non-Quakers alike - a means of understanding the ways in which Quakers have found inner peace in all aspects of their lives.
