Ryshad is a Chosen man, sworn to protect his master's House from all threats, and at all costs.
When Temar, sole surviving nobleman from the House of D'Alsennin, arrives on the mainland, Ryshad is ordered to be his aide. Together they must attend the summer solstice festival, where Temar hopes to gather the support needed to rebuild his lost island colony.
But the tasks of a Chosen man are never simple. The intentions of friends and enemies alike can often be deceptive. As the distinction between good and evil becomes dangerously blurred and the threat of Elietimm magic persists, Ryshad's courage, resourcefulness and loyalty will be cruelly tested.
