What am I doing with my life? What does it mean to believe in God? Where is God in our world today? When we ask these questions we are attempting to penetrate the deepest mysteries of faith and life. This monograph, produced by the Anglican Church of Australia, explores these questions within a Christian context and within the context of the twentieth century.

Eight writers respond to the challenge of reflecting on what it means to be human today. They bring to their task widely differing backgrounds, perspectives and skills ranging from science and sociology to ethics, pastoral ministry and theological education. Their reflections are firmly grounded in the world to the 1990s and their insights lead us toward the future.

A special feature of the monograph is the inclusion of the late John Gaden's paper on 'Human Sexuality' which was received by the General Synod of 1989. Papers have been prepared by Don Edwards, Ian Barns, Janet Gaden, Michael Horsburgh, Peter Hughes, Kaye Pitman and John Roffey.
