'Nikki said she was stressed at the thought of how much pressure she'd be under when she went back to work. I volunteered to de-stress her in any way she'd care to nominate and ended up giving her a massage. She was so relaxed, she was in bed by nine o'clock on Saturday night. As if this wasn't frustrating enough, I'd missed half of 'The Bill' and couldn't pick up the story.'

All a bloke wants out of life is a house in the suburbs, maybe a kid - or at least a medium-sized dog - and a partner who'd rather be with him than working late at the office. Instead, he finds his wife is having an affair, his best friend is gay and his tennis partner, Trudi, seems to want him for more than his backhand slice!

'A Year Of Living Aimlessly' is the diary of an ordinary bloke, published without his permission by Steve Myhill, who found it on a second-hand computer, laughed out loud and decided to cash in. A more moral author would have struggled with the dilemma of exposing another man's torment to the world and claiming it as his own. Myhill, though, is a television scriptwriter, and therefore had no problems reconciling his blatant plagiarism.
