This is the final review of gypsy and traveller accommodation in the East of England, prepared by the East of England Regional Assembly (EERA). The report is based on a Single Issue Review of the Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS). The draft Single Issue Review was subject to an Examination in Public, the recommendations of which were considered in the Report of the Panel by the Secretary of State. The Secretary of State's Decisions were the results of that consideration and have been subject to eight weeks public consultation. This final review is the result of that consultation. The report addresses key proposed changes such as: increasing the number of additional pitches to be provided in the East of England; provision for transit sites; provision for travelling showpeople; and, slightly lower pitch requirements for Basildon and Epping Forest, recognising the particular delivery challenges in those districts.
