Since he burst onto the international scene in 1990 as a fresh-faced 19-year-old, Adam Parore has become an institution behind the stumps and an iconic figure in New Zealand sport.
Regarded as the best wicket keeper in the world, he frequently clashed with administrators and polarised public opinion with his reluctance to conform. Parore was always in the news and never far from controversy, on or off the field. He was also a wicketkeeper who prided himself on his flawless glovework and at times brilliant stroke play.
