What is life actually like for teenagers growing up in low
and middle-income countries? Much of what we know about adolescence is based on
research from high-income countries. Young Lives’ unique comparative
longitudinal study of childhood poverty allows us to challenge assumptions
about adolescents: to understand how adolescents living in contexts of economic
and social adversity experience puberty, school transitions, marriage,
parenthood and work.
