This edited manuscript includes six chapters, each describing recent advancements in medicine and biology. Chapter One investigates the impact on psychopathology of adding lurasidone to clozapine for people with treatment-resistant schizophrenia. Chapter Two reviews some intestinal protozoa and their diseases in immunodeficient patients. Chapter Three addresses the general role of inflammasomes and reviews current knowledge of potential therapeutic application of inflammasomes in neurological disorders. Chapter Four looks at the role of ion channel activation and downstream signal transduction in modulating Sertoli cell behaviour to a final physiological response and its potential impact on spermatogenesis.
