A warm, funny and entertaining autobiography by much-loved actress Judy Cornwell.
Judy Cornwell is an award-winning actress who has been delighting audiences for nearly fifty years, most recently playing Daisy in the long-running television series 'Keeping Up Appearances'.
In this charming memoir she describes her childhood growing up in Britain during the war, and then in Australia where her family emigrated. Returning to Britain she became a professional dancer and comedienne in her teens, working her act between the nudes at the Windmill Theatre before learning the ropes as a young actress in repertoire. Her long career includes roles in radio's 'The Navy Lark', the controversial play 'Oh, What A Lovely War', her own TV comedy series 'Moody and Pegg', and several seasons with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Her films include 'Two for the Road' with Audrey Hepburn and 'Santa Claus' with Dudley Moore.
In 'Adventures Of A Jelly Baby', she describes the many people she has worked with, painting a colourful picture of the characters, camaraderie and rivalries of life backstage and the mishaps that actors contend with, from the dangers of working with animals to the flatulence inducing effect of wearing a corset in period drama.
Warm and witty, this is a delightful journey through a life lived on stage and screen.
