Often portrayed as the father of 20th century art direction, Alexey Brodovitch and his contributions to HARPER'S BAZAAR over more than twenty years remain the reference point for several generations of photographers and art directors. He was one of the first to incorporate the space available into the overall design, for example in his pioneering use of the double-page spread. With an infallible eye, he promoted photographers such as Blumenfeld, Cartier-Bresson, Avedon and Man Ray. This book, catalog of the exhibition at Maison europeenne de la photographie in Paris (1998), serves as a unique homage to an exceptional talent.
