Alice-Miranda is thrilled to be back at school, where the girls are preparing a play with the neighbouring boys' school. But it's not all glitter and stage lights: there are rumours of a witch in the woods, and Jacinta and Millie are clashing with a rude new student, Sloane, and her pushy mother, September. September Sykes wants to win her family the fortune she's sure it deserves, but her scheme could end in disaster. When Alice-Miranda learns of the plot, she knows just how to set things right.
Alice-Miranda Takes the Lead
This is my favourite book so far in this excellent series. I adore Alice-Miranda and her adventures and I can't wait to read Alice-Miranda At Sea. Alice-Miranda has to solve a mystery about a witch in the woods except that she's not a real witch because as Alice-Miranda says,'they're only in fairy stories'. There is a new girl at school called Sloane and she's horrible but her mother called September is worse. The two of them gang up against the boys' school in the village called Fayle which is a pretty funny name for a boys' school. It's a great story and I couldn't put it down. Kate
