Children love animals; and they love to read about animals. For 'Animal Scraps' nearly fifty authors and illustrators of Australian children's books have contributed their own stories, reminiscences, artwork, photographs and other memorabilia to do with animals - animals in their lives, or simply animals as a source of wonder, interest and inspiration.
So we have Allan Baillie writing about the orang-utans he met in Borneo; Janeen Brian extolling the virtues of camels; Jane Carroll remembering the pets of her country childhood; Andrew McLean illustrating the many dogs that have been part of his life.
Some contributions are funny, some are serious, some are very touching. This is a fascinating collection.
