Lars Knudsen grew up in North Queensland where he became fascinated by the prolific birdlife, particularly the spectacular species of the rainforests. In this book he presents 29 of his best paintings of Australian birds with his detailed comments about each bird, its peculiarities, and what he admires most about it.
He spent many years in Sydney in advertising before leaving Australia in 1977 to set up a studio in Spain and paint full-time. The artist has travelled widely, painting birds of Europe, Asia and North America, and exhibiting in solo shows in England, Germany, Spain, and Switzerland. In 1980, he was elected by unanimous vote to the Society of Wildlife Artists in London.
