Basildon was one of the New Towns created after the Second World War to deal with some of the housing problems left behind after the years of conflict. The Basildon Heritage Project worked with children from five local primary schools who were introduced to digital cameras and used their new skills in helping to establish the Basildon Heritage Trail, a journey around many points of local interest. The photographs used in Basildon, Our Heritage compliment the story of Basildon. Each of the five schools has its own unique tale to tell. The children are the future of the town and their involvement in the making of the trail and this book has made them more aware of their valuable heritage.
