Being Virtual provides an exploration of identity in the 21st Century through the online world. Davey Winder looks at virtual friends and real danger in the chat rooms and social spaces of the Web; swapping an average life for something more exciting within the immersive 3D environments of Second Life; dealing with the consequences of being a victim of identity theft; struggling to cope with multiple virtual personality disorder. All of this is seen through the eyes of real people, some loving it, some running into problems.
