Sanuk: the graceful term that captures the Thais' philosophy of savouring and enjoying every aspect of life. This simple but important rule also applies to Thai cooking. When the palate tires of fast food joints, cafes and restaurants, it is time to seek out wholesome, heart-warming food that nourishes the mind and body. Through a personal collection of recipes, Forest presents to readers the delights of simple but wonderful home-cooked cuisine that everyone can enjoy. Whether you are a harried executive who has little time for cooking, a housewife seeking to reinvent family meals, or a passionate cook who wants to enjoy the process of creating slow food on a lazy weekend, Thai Home Cooking will inspire you to cook, explore, savour and eat to your heart's content.
As the daughter of a chef, Forest Leong grew up helping her father in the kitchen. Whether it was chopping cloves of garlic and bunches of chillies, or pounding spices to create piquant pastes, she absorbed the sanuk way of life and incorporates that into her cooking, and food philosophy. Professionally-trained as a chef, Forest now lives in Singapore with her celebrity chef husband, Sam Leong, and conducts cooking classes, which have gained a dedicated following.
