Photographer Ian Kenins and journalist Paul Daffey spent six months travelling from their base in Melbourne to compile the material for their book on country football around Australia. The idea is to depict the fabric of football - Australian rules, that is - in words and pictures. 'Beyond The Big Sticks' is divided into sections and contains a history of country football, legends of the bush, interesting or significant grounds and how clubs raise funds to stay alive.
The 100 pictures include portraiture and action shots from games. Sponsored by Carlton United Breweries and the Australian Football League.
