It's a collection of interviews and anecdotes of football commentators from both radio and TV, such as Rex Hunt, Steve Quartermain, Bruce McAvaney,Ted Whitten, Eddie McGuire, Drew Morphett, Bob Skilton, Tim Lane, Dennis Cometti, Gerald Healy, Sandy Roberts, Robert Walls, Kevin Bartlett and many, many more. 'Beyond The Call' conveys the passion and humour in the life of the commentator - full of the guts and glory of those who play footy, but from the sidelines and over the airwaves. The commentator is our middleman - our link to what happens on the field, but we rarely get any insight into where these people are coming from, or how they found their way into the callers box. These interviews allow us that glimpse, that behind-the-scenes look at what is often the face of football. There are petty rivalries and egos aplenty, but also callers who just want to be involved in the game, who live for the calling.
