Cynical, solitary Stanly Bird is a fairly typical teenager - unless you count the fact that his best friend is a talking beagle named Daryl, and that he gained the powers of flight and telekinesis when he turned sixteen.
When Stanly receives a cryptic phone call from his cousin, he learns that he is not the only one in the family with unusual abilities. Having inadvertently revealed his powers to pupils at his school, he is forced to set out for London where the true nature of his gifts is unveiled.
