Through the open door of the room came a few bars of music, barely audible. Christie allowed herself to be seduced by the melody then she shook her head in confusion. There was no one in the room - who could be playing that plaintive tune?
Christie Steyning has to leave her home and the familiar surrounds of Brighton, England, for Adelaide, Australia - an unfamiliar place halfway across the world. Before she leaves England, Christie discovers letters dating back from over one hundred and forty years.
Charlotte Steyning journeyed to the "end of the world" to Australia in 1851, but stopped writing in 1852. Charlotte disappeared in South Australia and now Christie is determined to piece together what happened. But who keeps playing that plaintive tune and why is that enchanting melody haunting Christie? Could this tune lead Christie to the truth of what happened to Charlotte Steyning?
