Dalton's fictionalised biography is a stunningly deft and tender story about coming of age, the complexities of love in a broken family, and (duh) drug dealing. The subject matter can be a little confronting but Dalton packages it up in such an accessible manner that you'll find it difficult to put the book down. Finished it in one night and felt the satisfaction of a nourishing meal. 4.5 stars. - Laura (QBD)

This was THE Australian fiction debut of 2019 – and for good reason. Set in Brisbane, by a local author, it's a coming of age story, a love story, the story of a troubled boy trying to become a good man. Beautifully written, sometimes shocking, with flashes of wonder, this book captured my heart and held it to the end! - Amy (QBD)
