The Brotherhood of St Laurence first opened its doors in Newcastle in 1930 before moving to Melbourne in 1933. For more than 75 years it has worked tirelessly to deliver care, support and friendship to disadvantaged people, and to advocate on their behalf to government, business and the community.
In Brotherhood, Father Jeff O'Hare introduces us to 29 of these extraordinary people. Their compelling stories will both move and inspire you. Many of these individuals have not had the advantages that can so easily be taken for granted: stability, security, education and employment. The caring relationships that they have developed with staff, volunteers and their communities have enabled them to live rich and valued lives and make their own contribution to society in return. These are wonderful real stories.
All royalties from the sale of this book will go to support the work of the Brotherhood of St Laurence.
