Caldey Island

Caldey Island lies off the magnificent Pembrokeshire coastline on the west coast of Wales. It is one of Britain's holy islands. The Cistercian monks of Caldey continue a tradition which began there in Celtic times. Author, Chris Howells and photographer Ross Grieve have gained exclusive access to capture the daily life of the monks and their religious celebrations. The book also contains interviews with the monks and inhabitants and records the history of the island and its unspoilt wildlife. Illustrated with over 100 colour photographs, this book makes a superb gift for visitors to the island and people with interests in religion, history and wildlife. AUTHOR: Christopher Howells is a freelance Television Producer / Director based in Cardiff. Past work includes So What Do You Do All Day?, Rivers with Griff Rhys Jones, So What Do You Do All Day? with Adrian Chiles, BBC Sports Personality of the Year, Scrum V and Welsh Rugby in the Noughties. His association with Caldey Island started for him and his partner Sara, after they worked together on the highly popular BBC Wales series Magic Islands that was broadcast in 2003. Since then they have been regular visitors; their daughter Lydia was baptised on the island in 2006.
