Banks are a mystery. They take our money, lend us money and, in general, make a lot of money. A career in banking is, literally, in the money.
Written by Stan Gawell - a former General Manager of Retail Banking for the State Bank of Victoria - the main theme is to provide career-seekers with an insight into the world of banking and finance. This will provide direction for both school-leavers and "career changers" to pursue and (hopefully) achieve a career in banking and finance.
Issues that are addressed include: job descriptions - everything from tellers, mortgage brokers, bank managers, accountants, etc.; courses and education requirements; remuneration; interviews with prominent people in the banking and Finance industries, including John Symond (Aussie Home Loans); handy referrals for places to find listed jobs; and relevant associations and professional bodies.
