Rescues, Exciting Missions and Other Stories About the Famous Australian Seaplanes of WWII.

The story of the famous Australian Catalina seaplanes during World War II.

Andrew McMillan has done the research, visited the old air bases, and interviewed some of the men who flew hundreds of Catalina seaplanes out of Darwin and other places on the north coast during the war. They were incredibly cumbersome craft that could carry 60 men at a pinch and stay in the air for 20 hours. If attacked by Japanese aeroplanes they were almost certainly doomed, as they were very slow.

This book contains stories of various exciting missions, reconnaissance, picking up downed airmen, and repatriating prisoners of war from Singapore.
