Have you ever wondered why we celebrate Easter in April and what is the significance of eggs? Or why Christmas is on 25th December and why we put up and decorate Christmas trees?
Take a trip through the calendar and discover the history of key events, symbols and celebrations from throughout the year.
Dividing the calendar into eight ancient segments, with solstices and equinoxes superimposed over landmark events in the farmer's year, we learn about the special symbols and myths associated with each period, including the principal events in the farming calendar and the myths and ceremonies surrounding them; and we go on to discover how we can appreciate that phase of the natural cycle and celebrate it appropriately.
