When her headstrong younger brother escapes from jail, Raney is frantic that he'll get himself killed, especially when Creed Sixkiller is determined to return the boy to jail. Sixkiller isn't the law, but this Indian believes anyone he's put in jail should stay there. And the fact that the boy's sister is the woman he once loved, a woman who Sixkiller believes turned down his marriage proposal years before because she didn't want to be married to a half-breed, has nothing to do with it.
Raney insists on joining Sixkiller in his search for her brother, and soon discovers she's never stopped loving him. She turned him down years before out of obligation to her father, but now, as the sexual tension mounts between them, she realises Sixkiller is the man she's meant to be with for the rest of her life. She just has to win him back.
