Hypermobility conditions are more common, complex and varied than the majority of practitioners realise. Every hypermobile patient is unique, and therefore challenging to treat using only a pre-set paradigm or protocol. The hEDS population can be underserved by Western medicine. This book is one of the first of its kind - a Chinese Medicine text focusing specifically on hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. This is an incredibly timely arrival, given that Chinese medicine can serve a number of issues faced by EDS patients including fatigue, pain, supporting gut health and reducing anxiety. An integrative approach is utilised throughout the book. It presents the existing bio-medical narratives before focussing on an in-depth exploration of the Chinese Medicine paradigms, and sketches guidelines for potential integrative treatment scenarios. The overall intention is to promote critical thought and agility on both sides of the treatment relationship. Due to its holistic nature, a Chinese Medicine approach to treating hypermobile conditions allows multiple treatment threads to be brought together. This book will help practitioners create flexible strategies, that prioritise the unique needs of every individual.
