Part biography and part interior and garden design, this is the first book about Christopher Gibbs authorised by the Gibbs family with contributions from his many influential friends.

Lavishly illustrated with breathtaking photography by internationally renowned photographers Robert Mapplethorpe, Cecil Beaton, Lord Snowdon, Michael Cooper, Derry Moore, Christopher Sykes and Jonathan Pilkington, together with pictures from the archives of family and friends.

A deep analysis of Christopher's eye for design and collectibles, heritage and the idea of 'haute bohemianism'; how this began and how this evolved chronologically from the 1960s through to 2018, coming to fruition in his greatest endeavour - El Foolk in Tangier.

Christopher Gibbs (1938-2018) was an antique dealer, collector, tastemaker and socialite, credited with shaping the aesthetic of 'haute bohemian' style and whose many friends included Mick Jagger, John Paul Getty, Bruce Chatwin, William Burroughs and Cecil Beaton. Throughout his life he created extraordinarily beautiful houses and gardens in London, the English countryside and most famously, in Tangier. While he wrote prolifically for Vogue,World of Interiors, House & Garden,The Spectator and many other publications, he never wrote a book. Using his articles as a guide, this first book documents his life, his evolving taste, his houses, his gardens and his gift for friendship.
