Although he is part of a herd of Belted Galloways, Clancy has no belt. Because he is totally black, all the other cows treat him like an outcast. Clancy tries all kinds of ways to give himself a belt, but nothing works. However, he
discovers there is an advantage to being all black. At night Clancy can sneak unseen into the rich pastures of the fat Herefords next door. He gets stronger and fatter, until he’s big enough to win the Cow Wrestling Contest and the
right to graze the rich pasture for all his herd!
