When crocodile farmer and wildlife documentary-maker Malcolm Douglas asks Janek Gazecki to assist him on a filming expedition to the rugged Kimberley region of Australia's remote north-west, Janek takes up the offer of a lifetime without hesitation. He dreams of charting a course through emerald waters and dramatic gorges - and of landing that elusive big barramundi. Little does he realise what really lies ahead.
It became obvious that several things would have to be kept from Malcolm if the two were to maintain a mutual respect. Firstly, Janek's pillow. An environment where crocodiles totter into your sleeping bag is no place for the type of people who need pillows. It would have to be smuggled aboard . . . And finally, that Janek cannot swim. In fact, he's terrified of water.
