Damnation Falls

Investigative reporter Randall Wilkes has agreed to ghostwrite the autobiography of his boyhood friend, ex-Governor Sonny McMahan. And so Randall finds himself back in the Tennessee hill town where he and Sonny grew up. He visits Faye, Sonny's mother, an old woman who has addled with age - speaking of her dead husband as though he were still alive and worrying that her son might be in danger. Soon after, Faye is discovered hideously murdered, her body swinging from a bridge. Drawing on his skills as an investigative reporter, Randall sets out to discover who is behind her murder. But before all the answers are in, more people will die...
