In 1864, confederate captain Patrick Driscoll and his friend and servant, Shadrack "Shad" Bryant, leave their tearful families to defend Raccoon Island off the Savannah coast, the last line of defence against Union attack. But when the two men are killed soon after their arrival, they leave behind the Driscoll family's legacy - the legend of a fortune buried somewhere on the island.
