Fourth Wing meets The Hunger Games in this spicy, page-turning romantasy where humans and direwolves forge unbreakable bonds and fight for survival at all costs.
Only the worthy survive the Bonding Trials. She'll risk her life - and her heart - to be one of them.
Meryn Cooper has always hated the Bonded, elite warriors who form mental links with the massive, vicious direwolves they ride. While they live in luxury, Meryn struggles to keep her family out of poverty. When her little sister, Saela, is kidnapped - stolen across the border by the immortal monsters her country has spent centuries fighting - Meryn's world falls apart.
Desperate to cross the front and save her sister, Meryn enlists in the army and is thrown into the deadly Bonding Trials, where any mistake will cost her life.
Now Meryn must survive four months of training at the castle. She is bound to a feral direwolf who refuses to communicate. The other trainees would love to spill her common blood. And her cold and beautiful instructor, Stark Therion, is eager to punish any weakness.
Everything is a competition, and everyone is out to get her - everyone except the dangerously handsome crown prince, whose attention adds another target to her back. In the castle, every smile hides a knife ...... and the halls hide dark secrets.
It's bond or bleed. Duel or die. Failure is ruin.

Meryn is scrappy, whether it’s being underestimated in the fighting ring or finding enough money to keep her sister and mother from living in the streets she will always find a way, that is until her sister is kidnapped.
Dying is not apart of Meryn’s plan but neither was competing to be bonded to a blood thirsty Dire wolf. If proving herself worthy of being in the ranks of the Direbound then just maybe she will be one step closer to finding her sister on the front lines of war. - Phoebe-Jane (QBD)

If you keep on putting off this book, don't, just pick it up and read it!
This book was great! It was a nice, easy read - I called a few different things while reading it, as well as the end, but even though that's what I thought was going to happen, it still took me by surprise.
Also... who doesn't love grumpy, tattooed men, and wolf companions? - Tanya (QBD)

When Meryn joins the military in order to find her sister, she thinks she will be sent straight to the warfront to confront the Siphons that took her. Instead she's thrown into a series of trials with her begrudgingly Bound direwolf Anassa, to prove she's got what it takes to be one of the Bonded.
Full of intrigue, sass and whole lot of spicy fun, Dire Bound is like if Fourth Wing had babies with Twilight. Less why choose, more wrong choice, this one is an absolute banger of a romantasy. The spice, immaculate. The intrigue, worthy of a GRRM novel. The complete and utter betrayal I felt by the end, absolutely gutwrenching. This one is guaranteed to have you screaming into the abyss by the end because WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE SEQUELS NOT OUT YET. - Natasha (QBD)

You get thrown into Meryn’s world and while at times you want to shake her, you go on a journey with her over the most difficult 4 months of her life (so far). Diverse characters, deadly trials, loveable companions, what’s not to like? - Jessica (QBD)
