Duck can swim faster than Gander, but Gander can fly higher than Duck. Duck suggests a freeze-in-place contest to determine who is the one and only, true and forever champion of champions.
Buzzing bees, frolicking bunnies, cawing crows, even a mighty gust of wind can't make Duck and Gander move or talk or even fidget a feather. Then Fox comes along and captures the immobile friends with plans for a delicious poultry stew, and Duck realizes that friendship is more important than winning a contest.
