A story that explores Balmain’s working class past and the recent industrial history of Cockatoo Island.
Nicola is a private investigator. She has been living in Balmain for as long as she can remember – unlike most of her neighbours she grew up in the old inner-Sydney wharfie haunt. She is working for Kevin O’Leary, an old lefty and a mate of her father. He knows some ugly truths about the local union leader, Alf Sigley, and his past on Cockatoo Island, but mysteriously disappears before he can pass it on. When Kevin turns up dead, Nicola is left to dig up the truth alone. She realises that there is more to Kevin’s story than an old grudge and that everyone she knows is in danger. Nicola is in deep and the more involved she gets, the more she realises that Sydney harbour really is full of sharks!
