When Eddie blows his redundancy money on a car just like Elvis's, it is the last straw for his wife Pearl. But Eddie has been thinking about the past, his lost dreams, and the car might help him recapture them. In particular he remembers the journey that he and his best buddy Jet, now dead, planned when they were young and wild. Leaving everything behind, Eddie sets out on a pilgrimage in memory of his friend. Tapedeck bursting with rock and roll, back pocket stuffed with dud tenners and his mind filled with memories of his turbulent fifties childhood and the good times with Jet and Pearl, Eddie cruises north to realise a dream that has waited in the shadows all his life.
