Essential Business Process Modeling

Essential Process Modeling explores the concepts, design, architecture, and standard specifications of BPM, focusing on its approaches to process notation, execution, administration and monitoring, and interaction with human and system actors. Topics include: process design patterns; BPEL and its precursors XLANG and WSFL; BPML and BPMN; collaboration and BPSS; the WfMC reference model and its interfaces (WAPI, WfXML, XPDL; web services choreography in WS-CDL, WSCI, and WSCL; the OMG's model- driven approach to BPM; and a layman's guide to process theory in the Pi Calculus, Petri Nets, and state machines. In addition, substantial hands-on examples are demonstrated using Oracle's Process Manager.
