France's Musee Conde is home to a library holding over 1500 antique manuscripts, including the Evangelica praeparatione, written by the apologetic author Eusebius in the 3rd or 4th century. What makes the Musee Conde's 1540s edition so special is that it is the "editio princeps," or first printing, of the Evangelica, which previously had existed only as a manuscript. Its regal binding is reproduced here.
