Nikki Beckett has just returned from the Everneath to a family who doesn't know where she's been, a boyfriend who doesn't know why she left and old friends who think she's an addict. Cole, the Everliving who lured her into the Everneath followed her as is determined to make sure Nikki returns to the Everneath with him, but this time as his queen. Nikki soon realises that Cole will stop at nothing to convince her to rule with him, putting everyone she loves, especially her boyfriend Jack, in grave danger.
Together, Nikki and Jack search for answers in ancient myths and from mysterious characters, hoping to find a loophole for Nikki to escape her fate. And they do…. Killing an Everliving can't be that hard, can it?
