Expo 2012 Yeosu was the first-ever world fair held on water. Called The Green Expo, it was a model of a mini clean and green city, with a focus on exhibiting marine technological achievements and envisioning a future where marine resource pollution will be eradicated. During the 93-day event, renewable energy sources were used to generate electricity, only environmentally-friendly cars were utilised and overall carbon emission was reduced. It is with the hope that this Green Expo will pave the way for future green cities to be built.
