Beautifully written in free verse, Falling into the Dragon's Mouth tells the story of thirteen-year-old Jason, an American boy living with his family in a coastal Japanese town.
As a foreigner and an outsider, Jason is bullied at school. But beyond the confines of the classroom, Jason explores his world, venturing into the larger community with his younger sister Cora. The violence directed towards Jason escalates, and the resolution is emotional. Though the story is set in Japan, the challenges of being an outsider will ring true across all cultures.
