Rebecca, fleeing London and a destructive relationship, ends up in Sydney, waitressing at the Centrepoint Tower restaurant. One night a woman jumps from the tower with her young child as Rebecca serves dinner, an event that jars the axis of Rebecca's life.
Unable to dispel the nightmarish incident from her mind, Rebecca becomes increasingly obsessed with the woman and her fate: what has led her to this desperate act? In her suicide plunge, has the woman seized hold of her destiny in a way Rebecca appears incapable of?
Losing her grip, sliding into sexual betrayals, Rebecca too begins to fall, gradually inhabiting an urban underworld peopled by lost souls and the voices of ghosts . . . until, in an obscure corner of the city, the past finally catches up with her.
