Greg Reston loves life — he's twenty-five, a happy small-town cop, surrounded by friends and family. Then, one sunny morning, a pickup truck fails to stop at a red light and knocks Greg off his motorbike, killing him outright.
Which leaves his best friend, Christopher Lallek, to break the terrible news to Greg's mother, Lee. Overwhelmed by grief, she turns to Christopher for help. He's only too glad to submerge his own distress by completing the chores Greg never found time for. Gradually Lee comes to rely on his emotional as well as practical support. And Christopher finds in the Restons the comfort of the family he never had.
