Pope for the People.
Karol Wojtyla's life mission is to help the poor and sick. His love of people means that when he became a priest, he spoke out against the greed and hatred that caused war, poverty and suffering. In 1978 he became Pope John Paul II. Since then, his continuing campaign for peace has brought him into contact with both world leaders and the most underprivileged people in the world.
